     Some of the customs kept to this day and on a large area of Mures county, are: the custom of carolling from Christmas Eve until after the New Year (until the Twelfth Day), that is kept in the majority of the villages from Mures county; the custom of wishing well with the Christmas star, with the "plugusorul" (little plough) and "sorcova" (branch or stick adorned with artificial flowers) on New Year's Eve, (in the case of children); the custom of going with the "turca" (also named goat in some localities from the Gurghiu Valley) on Christmas Eve: Idicel Sat, Idicel Padure, Vatava, Bistra Muresului, Deleni, Pietris, Jabenita, Ripa de Jos, Sacalu de Padure, Ibanesti, Dumbrava etc; "Laturenii" - a Christmas carolling custom in Luieriu, Sacalu de Padure, Dumbrava etc; "Prostii" (the masked ones) - a New Year's custom - Idicel Sat, Idicel Padure; the Moving of the Gates on the New Year - generally the Superior Mures Valley; "Chiraleisa" - a custom of wishing well of the children in the morning of the Twelfth Day - in localities from the Superior Mures Valley, but also from the Plain region; "Vergelul" or "virgilitul" - in the night of the New Year (or on the evenings of the Advent) - a magical practice of young girls of finding out the predestined husband - spread in the past on the whole territory of Mures county, kept in the present only in a few localities; Sprinkling the Girls on Easter - in localities with a Hungarian population; Jumping into the Easter water - Ungheni and the surrounding localities; The first ploughman or the holiday of the ploughman - the Gurghiu Valley, Logig etc; Shouting over the village at Singeorz (Sfântu Gheorghe, 24th of April) or on Shrove Tuesday - the Superior Mures Valley, the Gurghiu Valley, the Plain region, on the two Tirnava; Going out to the cornfield on Whitsuntide - Taureni, Chimitelnic; Running with the horses on Whitsuntide and Shooting the rooster - German customs at Uila, Batos etc; Wetting the wives - Hodac, on the second day of Whitsuntide; the Wheat coronet at harvest - the Superior Mures Valley, the Tirnave region, the Plain region; "Sinzienele" - 25th of June - the Suprior Mures Valley, the Gurghiu Valley, the Beica Valley, the Plain region; Running from the mire - Faragau; shepherd's customs: measuring the sheep and feast of the sheep - in localities with a tradition in this occupation (shepherding) from the Superior Mures Valley and the Gurghiu Valley; the wedding customs: the callers, the flag, the walking on the large road, the bringing of the dowry, the best man, the shriek of the hen, the "socacitele" - in the villages from the Superior Mures Valley, the Gurghiu Valley, the Plain region, the Tirnave region etc; "Tremuricii" - a winter custom of young men with a moralising character in the villages with Hungarian population: Galateni, Troita, Laslau Mic, the Niraj Valley in general and the bat with the ashes - a Hungarian custom that is practiced in the second day of Easter also in the Niraj Valley region; the harnessing of young men not married in time to the log - a custom practiced on Whitsuntide in villages with Hungarian population from the Niraj Valley; Masked carnival (farsang) - 25th of February, a custom spread in many localities with Hungarian population from Mures county.
