In the villages of Mures county folk dances, songs, the folk costume worn on holidays is handed down in the family, from the elderly to the youngest ones, the way it has been done for hundreds of years. Proof are the over 100 active folk ensembles and folk dance formations existing at the moment, many of them including three or four generations in their composition, the love and respect towards folk culture being inspired to young people, too, this way these treasures being handed down to future generations.

Some of these ensembles have in their repertoire, besides folk dances and songs, different customs specific to the region they come from, others have in their composition valuable traditional folk music bands (in a formula of three - violin, double, double bass) specific to the Plain region, specific instrumental formations or especially authentic and valuable vocal groups.

These artistic ensembles and formations carry on a regular activity, many of them participating at important festivals, competitions and shows organized at national and international level, contributing this way to the conservation and capitalization of these specific elements of folk culture, being in many cases eloquent messengers of the national identity, of our folk culture, of the values that describe us from this point of view.
